LOCK HAVEN – Senior
Kim Wernerspach finished eighth to lead East Stroudsburg University's cross country showing at Lock Haven's River Run on Saturday.
Wernerspach, coming off an eighth-place finish at the PSAC Championships last weekend, was one of the few top runners to compete for the Warriors entering next week's NCAA Atlantic Regional, which will also be run at Lock Haven.
ESU's men's and women's teams both finished third of five schools. Shippensburg won the women's title, followed by IUP, ESU, Bloomsburg and Lock Haven. LHU won the men's race, followed by Shippensburg, ESU, IUP and Cheyney.

Stephanie Soni ran second for the Warriors' women behind Wernerspach (23:34.9), placing 15th in 24:27.4. Sophomore
Lauren Monteith was just behind in 16th (24:27.6), senior
Bridget Arrow was 19th (24:56.7) and junior
Katie Thomas was 20th (25:04.5).
Junior
Ryan Gormley was 20th in 26:56.4 to lead ESU's men, followed by freshman
Brad Meixsell (23rd – 27:15.7), freshman
Jacob Hinkley (27th – 27:35.9), junior
Mike Miller (29th – 27:55.9) and freshman
Taylor Piekos (35th – 28:49.7).
ESU will compete in the NCAA Atlantic Regional next weekend at Lock Haven. The men finished sixth and the women were 11th at the PSAC Championships.
