ESU Wrestling Falls at Gannon, 38-13

ERIE – Redshirt juniors Braden Turner (165) and Brendan McKeown (174), and junior Frank Marinucci (197), posted victories for East Stroudsburg University in a 38-13 dual loss at Gannon on Sunday morning.

Turner, ranked No. 6 in Division II at 157 pounds, wrestled up at 165 for the second time this season and won a 7-0 decision over Adam Greenman to improve to 16-5 on the year. Turner is 11-1 against DII competition and has won 10 of his last 11 matches overall.

McKeown won an 11-1 major decision over Jermaine Easter to run his record to 15-1 (9-1 DII) while earning his 11th straight victory. McKeown, ranked No. 2 in the region, had his ninth bonus point win of the season and fifth major decision.

Marinucci got the nod at 197 and pinned Dylan Martin with 10 seconds left in the third period for his first career fall. Marinucci is 4-5 overall and 2-1 in dual action in his first season at ESU.

Freshman Tyson Searer, ranked No. 5 nationally at 197, was bumped up to 285 due to an injury to redshirt junior Joe Blaes, but did not wrestle at the weight.

At 184, redshirt sophomore Luke DeLuise lost a 4-2 (sudden victory) decision to Zack Zelcs, the defending regional champion. DeLuise is 12-9 overall and 7-6 against DII competition with the Super Region 1 Championships coming up on February 22-23.

The Warriors will wrestle their final dual of the season at Kutztown on Tuesday before heading back to Kutztown for the SR1 Championships the following weekend.
