LEWISBURG - Junior Elizabeth Madden was second in the women's weight throw and sophomore Travis Toth was third in the men's weight throw at the Bucknell Winter Classic, held Saturday in central Pennsylvania.

The throwers were the only Warriors in action this weekend as the rest of the squad had been scheduled to compete at the Lafayette-Rider Winter Games at the Armory in New York City, a trip which was canceled due to Friday's winter storm.

Madden had a mark of 50-5 1/4, just off her PSAC-leading 51-2 3/4 that she threw at last weekend's DeSchriver Invitational.

Toth was also just off his mark at the DeSchriver, throwing 55-2. He had an NCAA Division II provisional mark of 57-6 1/4 last Saturday which ranks second in the PSAC.

Sophomore Mike Smith was 13th at 50-7 1/4 and sophomore Joseph Thieme was 22nd at 45-9 3/4. Both have already etched better PSAC qualifying marks.

In the men's shot put, sophomore Casey Ciaston hit the PSAC qualifying mark with a throw of 44-11 1/2.

ESU will be back in central Pennsylvania next weekend at the Susquehanna Open in Selinsgrove on Friday night. The meet will be the Warriors' final action before the PSAC Indoor Championships, which will be held February 23-24 at Edinboro.
