SALEM, Va. – Freshman
Amanda Carlin recorded a pair of complete game victories as East Stroudsburg University went 2-1 in non-conference softball action over the weekend in Salem, Virginia.
Carlin allowed five hits in each game and had a total of eight strikeouts, fanning six in a 5-2 win over Davis & Elkins on Saturday and two in a 5-1 win over Ohio Valley on Sunday.
The Warriors dropped their opener on Saturday, falling to Charleston (W.V.), 6-3. The final game of the weekend, against Bluefield State on Sunday, was canceled due to inclement weather.
ESU is 6-5 going into a pair of doubleheaders this week in North Carolina, at Winston-Salem State on Tuesday and Saint Augustine's on Friday.

Cara Woods (6-for-11, 2B, HR, 2 RBI, 5 runs) and freshman OF
Sierra Wagner (5-for-11, RBI, 2 runs) led the offense for the Warriors as they hit .295 (23-for-78) over the weekend. Junior catcher
Rebecca Smith hit two home runs.
Charleston 6, ESU 3 (

The Golden Eagles (6-8) hit three home runs in the first inning to take a 5-0 lead and Morgan Aguirre (5.0 IP, 5 hits, 1 unearned run) was solid in the circle for Charleston.
ESU had six hits with Wagner leading the way, going 2-for-3 with a walk. Smith hit a two-run home run, her first of the season, in the seventh inning.

Carlin earned the first of her two wins, striking out six with just one walk, and the Warriors rallied from a 2-1 deficit with two runs each in the fifth and sixth innings.
Woods was 3-for-3, freshman
Kellie Mignoli was 2-for-3 with a homer and Smith hit a go-ahead two-run homer in the fifth inning.
ESU evened the score at 1-1 in the third as Woods had a leadoff single, moved to third on a sacrifice bunt by Smith and scored on a two-out single by senior OF
Jennifer Denaro.
Davis & Elkins (6-6) took a 2-1 lead in the fourth before the Warriors went ahead in the fifth. Woods hit a one-out double and Smith followed with her second homer of the day, a shot to center field to put ESU ahead 3-2.
Mignoli hit a leadoff homer in the sixth and Woods had an RBI single that scored sophomore OF
Kasey Meckes (double) for an insurance run.
The Senators put two runners on base in the seventh to get the tying run to the plate, but Carlin ended the game with her sixth strikeout.

Carlin fired her second five-hitter, allowing just a run in the sixth inning after the Warriors had gone ahead 5-0.
Wagner (3-for-4, RBI, run) and Woods (2-for-4, RBI, two runs) had five of ESU's eight hits in the top two spots in the order.

Carlin didn't allow a hit until there was one out in the third inning, and ESU sealed it with two runs in the fifth. Woods hit a leadoff homer, and Smith walked, advanced on a wild pitch and scored on an RBI single by McNeil.
Wagner leads ESU with a .436 batting average (17-for-39), 7 RBI and 9 runs through 11 games this season. Woods is second with a .394 average (13-for-33), 8 RBI and 9 runs.
Carlin has lowered her ERA to 3.24 and has a 3-2 record with one save. She has appeared in seven games, making five starts and throwing three complete games.
