HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. - East Stroudsburg University finished its spring break trip to South Carolina with wins over Pikeville (Ky.) and McDaniel (Md.) on Wednesday and Thursday.

The Warriors went 3-1 during the week, opening with a 9-0 loss Benedict (S.C.), their only Division II opponent. They had a 6-3 win over Roosevelt (Ill.) on Tuesday and 8-1 wins over Pikeville and McDaniel the last two days. Roosevelt and Pikeville compete in the NAIA and McDaniel is a member of Division III.

Against Pikeville, sophomore Allison Bean won at No. 1 singles, senior Rabecca Lausch won at No. 3 singles, and junior Annie Vega and sophomore Taylor Presby won at No. 1 doubles. The Warriors gained their other five points via forfeit as Pikeville fielded just three players.

On Thursday against McDaniel, the Warriors pulled out three singles wins in a third-set tiebreaker to emerge on top after sweeping the doubles. Lausch and Bean won 8-0 at No. 1, Vega and freshman Amina Dickson won 8-2 at No. 2, and Presby and freshman Laura Trotta won 8-6 at No. 3.

In singles, Bean won 6-1, 4-6, 10-5 at the No. 1 spot and Dickson won 7-6, 2-6, 10-4 at No. 2.

Lausch was a 6-1, 6-3 winner at No. 3, Vega won 6-2, 6-3 at No. 4, and Presby came away with a 6-4, 5-7, 10-6 win at No. 5. McDaniel's Elise O'Meara had a 6-2, 6-3 win over freshman Sarah DiGregory, a member of the ESU swimming team, at No. 6.

The Warriors will look for their first Division II win of the season when they head to West Chester for a PSAC East match-up on Tuesday.
