KUTZTOWN – Rosa Buffolino scored five goals to lead Kutztown to a 9-6 win over East Stroudsburg University in the PSAC lacrosse opener for both schools on Tuesday.

Senior attack Sarah Ginn scored three goals, freshman midfielder Kaitlynn Wiltraut had two and freshman attack Lauren Nunes also scored for ESU, which pulled within 7-6 with just over six minutes left before Kutztown scored the last two goals.

There were just four goals scored in the first half, two on each side, with Ginn scoring with 47 seconds left in the half to force a 2-2 tie at the break.

Kutztown scored the first two goals of the second half and held the advantage the rest of the way. The Golden Bears (2-2, 1-0) went up 7-4 with exactly 10:00 left on a goal by Taylor Stone, assisted by Buffolino.

Wiltraut scored 38 seconds later to cut into the deficit, and Ginn got the Warriors (0-4, 0-1) within a goal with 6:11 remaining.

Gina Carmina scored for Kutztown with 5:35 to go and added an insurance goal with 39 seconds left.

ESU held advantages in shots (19-16) and ground balls (26-20), while Kutztown had the edge in draw controls (10-6). Kutztown had two more turnovers, 21-19.

JoAnn McLaughlin had 10 saves in goal for Kutztown, while senior Amanda Simms had four saves for ESU.

The Warriors are back on the road on Thursday with a trip to Chestnut Hill for a non-conference game. They return to PSAC action on Saturday at Gannon.
