SLIPPERY ROCK - Slippery Rock opened an 8-1 lead and held off East Stroudsburg University for a 13-9 win in PSAC lacrosse on Friday afternoon in western Pennsylvania.

Senior attack Sarah Ginn and sophomore attack Emily Powell both had three goals for ESU (1-12, 0-8), which will look for its first PSAC win on Saturday at Edinboro.

Morgan Pettit had had three goals and two assists, Erin Wilcox scored three goals and Holly Webb had two goals and two assists to lead Slippery Rock (5-7, 2-6), which built its lead in the first 21 minutes.

The Warriors scored two of the last three goals in the first half to get within 9-3, and freshman attack Lauren Nunes made it 9-4 in the first minute of the second half.

After a scoreless 12-minute stretch, Slippery Rock scored three goals within 49 seconds to open its margin to 12-4. ESU scored five of the final six goals to set the final margin.

Nunes had a goal and two assists and junior midfielder Nicole Miller and freshman midfielder Kaitlynn Wiltraut also scored for ESU.

Senior goalkeeper Amanda Simms made 10 saves for ESU, and Hannah Houde had 13 saves for Slippery Rock.

Sophomore defender Alyssa Oxenford had four ground balls and three draw controls, and senior midfielder Brandi Smith had five ground balls and one draw control.
