EDINBORO – Junior midfielder Nicole Miller scored the game-winning goal with 1:20 left to give East Stroudsburg University its first PSAC win of the season with a 9-8 victory at Edinboro on Saturday afternoon.

Miller scored three goals for her fourth hat trick of the year to lead the Warriors (2-12, 1-8), who also got two goals each from senior attack Sarah Ginn, senior midfielder Brandi Smith and freshman attack Lauren Nunes.

ESU and Edinboro (7-8, 2-7) were knotted 5-5 at halftime and 8-8 with 8:20 remaining before Miller produced the game's final goal. Freshman midfielder Samantha Weinert won the ensuing draw control and ESU ran all but the last 20 seconds off the clock, not giving Edinboro enough time to tie it in regulation.

The Warriors never trailed in the second half, taking a 6-5 lead on Nunes' 27th goal of the season three minutes into the period. Edinboro tied it before goals by Ginn and Smith made it 8-6 in favor of ESU with 11:23 left.

Edinboro came back with two quick goals to tie it at 8-8 with 8:20 remaining, but the Warriors prevailed.

In the first half, back-to-back goals by Miller and Ginn put ESU ahead 3-2 about halfway through the half. Smith and Miller broke ties before Edinboro's Jenny Wirth scored with 44 seconds left until intermission to make it 5-5.

Senior Amanda Simms had six saves for ESU as Edinboro held a slim 22-20 advantage in shots. The Warriors had one more draw control, 10-9, and were 4-for-4 on free position shots.

Wirth and Shannon Rohrich led Edinboro with two goals each.

ESU finishes the 2013 season, its first under head coach Aaron Jaffe, with a pair of home games next week. The Warriors host Bloomsburg on Tuesday at 4 p.m. and Shippensburg on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Whitenight Field.
