EAST STROUDSBURG – Senior attack Sarah Ginn scored a career-high six goals, but East Stroudsburg University fell to defending PSAC champion Bloomsburg, 16-9, in conference lacrosse action on Tuesday afternoon at Whitenight Field.

Ginn, who has a team-high 38 goals and 46 points, had her sixth hat trick of the season and 13th in the last two years.

Sam Mazzie scored seven goals and added an assist for Bloomsburg (8-7, 6-4), which is fifth in the PSAC after winning the championship as the No. 6 seed last spring. The Huskies opened a 9-0 lead in the first 24 minutes before the Warriors held a two-goal advantage the rest of the way.

Freshman attack Lauren Nunes added three assists, junior midfielder Nicole Miller had one goal and two assists and junior attack Sarah Studdiford and sophomore attack Emily Powell also scored for ESU (2-13, 1-9), which was coming off a 9-8 win at Edinboro on Saturday.

Senior goalkeeper Amanda Simms made 10 saves for ESU, while Sara Bates had 11 saves for the Huskies.

ESU held advantages of 14-13 in draw controls and 16-11 in turnovers, but Bloomsburg had nine more ground balls (21-12). Bloomsburg had a 34-25 edge in shots.

Ginn has 98 points (80 goals, 18 assists) and Miller has 92 points (69 goals, 23 assists) in the last three seasons for ESU. Nunes had 38 points on 27 goals and 11 assists during her freshman season.

ESU finishes the 2013 season on Saturday against Shippensburg at 1 p.m. at Whitenight Field.
