PUEBLO, Colo. - Senior Corinne Fitzgerald placed 10th in the women's 3000m steeplechase and freshman Seth Bailey tied for 11th in the men's high jump on the second day of the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships, held Friday at Colorado State-Pueblo.

Fitzgerald ran a time of 11:14.11 in a field of 12 competitors after qualifying sixth for the final in 11:02.19 on Thursday night. She was fifth in her heat in the prelims and the top “at-large” qualifier for the final. Bloomsburg's Victoria Davis was fifth in 10:59.05 and Edinboro's Kasey Jones was 12th in 11:43.28.

Fitzgerald completes her career as a three-time NCAA qualifier in the steeplechase and was also a national qualifier in cross country as a junior in 2011. She was ESU's Co-Female Senior Scholar-Athlete of the Year with teammate Rose Mascoli and is expected to contend for her second Academic All-America honor this summer.

She holds the school record in the steeplechase in 10:37.95, which she ran at the Penn Relays on April 25. She was the 2012 PSAC champion and is the only woman in school history to qualify for the NCAA Championships in the event.

Bailey tied for 11th in the high jump at 6-8 3/4 after entering tied for 13th on the national list at 6-10 1/4, which he cleared to win the PSAC championship on May 11. Bailey cleared the opening height on his second attempt before bowing out of the competition with the bar at 6-10 3/4.

Bailey had the second-best finish among four freshmen in the field and was the first ESU men's high jumper to compete at an NCAA outdoor championship since Mike Newhard in 2001. He was one of just two athletes from the PSAC to qualify in the event, along with Shippensburg freshman Jalen Ramsey, who did not clear his attempts at the opening height.

Fitzgerald and sophomore Travis Toth opened the Warriors' action on Thursday. Toth was 13th in the hammer at 183-9 in his first trip to the NCAA Championships.

Senior Matt Tholis and redshirt senior Josh Hontz will finish the weekend in the men's javelin on Saturday at 2:15 p.m. Eastern Time, with both having a legitimate shot at their second career All-America honors. Tholis is ranked No. 3 on the national list at 226-5 and was seventh a year ago, while Hontz is No. 9 at 209-5 and was the national runner-up in 2011.
