BLOOMSBURG – East Stroudsburg University opened its 2013-14 women's tennis season at the PSAC Individual Championships, held Saturday and Sunday at Bloomsburg University.
In singles, junior
Allison Bean pushed her opening round opponent, Ale Heller of Millersville, to a third set before falling 6-7 (4), 6-3, 10-7.
Sophomore
Amina Dickson fell to Bloomsburg's Caitlyn Flynn, 6-2, 6-3.
In doubles, Dickson and senior
Annie Vega fell to IUP's No. 4-seeded Tanya Timko and Abby McCormick, 8-1. Timko and McCormick won their quarterfinal match before falling to California's Ramona Czakon and Alexandra Borgenhoff, 8-3, in the semifinals.
Bean played primarily No. 1 singles last year, posting a 3-17 record. Dickson was 2-19 while playing mostly No. 2 singles.
Dickson and Vega, who was named to the All-PSAC East singles team, were 5-6 while teamed at No. 2 doubles last season.
The Warriors are scheduled to travel to Caldwell for their first dual on Thursday at 3 p.m.
