ESU Volleyball Falls in PSAC Crossover Play to Gannon, Edinboro

ERIE – Junior outside hitter Abby Welch had a career-high 16 kills, but Edinboro pulled out three close sets in East Stroudsburg University's final match of this weekend's PSAC crossover action on Saturday at Gannon.

The Warriors (5-11, 1-4) fell to the Golden Knights, 28-26, 25-22, 25-23, after taking a 3-0 loss against Gannon, 25-11, 25-15, 25-14, earlier in the day. On Friday, ESU dropped a pair of three-setters to Mercyhurst and Slippery Rock.

Junior Annabelle Charlton added nine kills, 16 assists and 11 digs, senior Allye Preziosi had five kills, 19 assists and 11 digs, and sophomore Maddie Hutchison had 26 digs against Edinboro.

Megan Branchick led the Fighting Scots (11-5, 4-0) with 11 kills and Haley Marett had 28 digs.

Redshirt sophomore Haley Mork had a team-high 17 digs against Gannon, Welch had a team-high six kills and Hutchison added 11 digs.

Gannon's (8-4, 3-0) balanced attack included eight kills and five block assists from Hannah Kren, seven kills from Kayla Knickerbocker and six kills and eight block assists from Lynne Hibbard.

Welch led the Warriors with 31 kills for the weekend. Charlton had 29 kills, 41 assists and 37 digs, including her fifth triple-double of the season (11 kills, 13 assists, 10 digs) against Slippery Rock on Friday.

Preziosi had a team-high 66 assists, along with 16 kills and 47 digs. Hutchison posted 74 digs for an average of 6.17 per set and Mork had 38 (3.17).

ESU is away from action until next weekend, hosting Pitt-Johnstown on Friday at 7 p.m. and Lock Haven on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Koehler Fieldhouse.
