Four NCAA DII Provisional Qualifying Efforts Highlight ESU at Bucknell’s Gulden Invitational

LEWISBURG – Junior Travis Toth improved his NCAA Division II provisional qualifying mark in the weight throw for the second straight week, and juniors Mike Smith (weight), Damien Boham (400m) and Christina O'Connor (high jump) all hit provisional marks in their events to lead East Stroudsburg University at Bucknell's Gulden Invitational on Saturday.

Toth had a mark of 61-11 1/2, improving his mark of 60-1 1/4 last week at Kutztown. He had his third straight mark over 60 feet, leads the PSAC by more than two feet, and ranks second in school history.

Smith had a mark of 57-5 in the weight throw, fourth-best in school history, and hit the NCAA provisional standard for the second straight year.

O'Connor, an indoor All-American in the high jump as a sophomore, cleared 5-7 1/4 to gain entry on this winter's provisional list.

Boham ran the 400m in 49.67 seconds and is now a two-time NCAA provisional qualifier in the 400 both indoors and outdoors.

The Warriors had 10 new PSAC qualifiers (five women, five men) and improved their PSAC qualifying marks in 13 events (seven women, six men).

ESU athletes also recorded nine performances on its all-time Top 10 lists, led by Toth in the weight throw (#2) and senior Rachel Pierantozzi in the 60m dash (#2 – 7.76).

ESU had three winning efforts from O'Connor in the women's high jump, Toth in the men's weight throw and the men's 4x400m relay of junior Kyle Rickard, sophomore Derrick Washington, senior Keith Parker-Washington and Boham, which won in 3:22.36.

The meet scored the top six finishers in each event. All of ESU's performances and notes are listed below.

The Warriors host the 15th Annual DeSchriver Invitational on Sunday, February 2 beginning at 10 a.m. at Koehler Fieldhouse.
