MANSFIELD - Freshman forward
Allison Howard had a career-high 25 points and 11 rebounds, leading East Stroudsburg University to a 67-49 win at Mansfield in PSAC East women's basketball on Wednesday night at Decker Gymnasium.
Howard's 25 points are the most by an ESU freshman since 2006-07, when Jhazmin Brown scored 25 points at Cheyney. Howard had her fourth double-double of the season for the Warriors (10-9, 5-4), who reached the 10-win mark for the second in five years with seven games remaining in the regular season.
Junior forward
Jessica Martin added 12 points, nine rebounds and five blocked shots, moving into a tie for 12th in PSAC history with 194 career blocks during her third year at ESU. She had her 13th career game with 5+ blocks and was one rebound shy of her 19th career double-double.
ESU was 26-for-29 at the foul line (89.7%) led by Howard, who was 13-for-14 and had ESU's most made free throws since current assistant coach
DeAnna Rayam made 13 against Bloomsburg in 2009-10.
The Warriors held Mansfield (0-19, 0-9) to 21.4 percent shooting (12-for-56) and forced 20 turnovers. The Mounties trailed 21-20 at halftime and by just four at the 15-minute of the second, before ESU went on a 17-3 run to get some breathing room.
Howard scored six of ESU's 17 points during the run which put the Warriors ahead 49-31 with less than 10 minutes left.
Mansfield responded with the next 11 points, cutting it to 49-41, but senior guard
Halie Cintron (eight points) hit a three-pointer to stop the run with 5:36 left and hit another three minutes later.

Tyeca Reviere scored seven points and junior guard
Ryann Fiascki had six points and a season-high six assists for the Warriors. Sophomore center
Michelle Boggs had four points, seven rebounds and four blocks in 13 minutes off the bench.
Jena Matter had 17 points and 20 rebounds and Katie Fitzpatrick added 13 points to lead Mansfield.
The Warriors are home on Saturday against Kutztown (6-12, 3-5), which was off Wednesday night. The Golden Bears won the first meeting, 59-58, on November 23.

* Howard's previous career-high in scoring was 20 points at Pitt-Johnstown on January 8.
* Martin tied Colleen Kegerreis (Bloomsburg, 2005-09) for 12th in PSAC history with 194 career blocks. She is 6 blocks from entering the top 10 (200 - Shelly Bowie, Millersville, 1981-85).
* Martin entered the night ranked 7th in DII with 2.9 blocks per game. She has 57 blocks in 19 games after Wednesday night (3.0 per game).
