EAST STROUDSBURG - Junior forward Jessica Martin had 20 points and 11 rebounds for her sixth double-double of the season and junior guard Ryann Fiascki tied her career-high with 18 points, but ESU fell to Clarion, 68-66, in a non-conference game on Saturday afternoon at Koehler Fieldhouse.

THE MATCH-UP: East Stroudsburg University hosts Clarion in the second half of this weekend's back-to-back games at Koehler Fieldhouse. The Warriors (6-6) came into the new year with a winning record for the first time since 2008-09, when they were 5-4 going into January. They were 2-1 in their last action before the Christmas and New Years break, winning at Slippery Rock (70-68 2OT) on Dec. 17 and beating Mercyhurst (54-47) at home on Dec. 21.

LAST TIME OUT: ESU led No. 2 Gannon at halftime, 29-28, but the Golden Knights started the 2nd half with a 7-0 run and pulled away for a 67-58 win on Friday afternoon. Fr. F Allison Howard had 12 points and 8 rebounds, and Jr. G Ryann Fiascki scored 11 points, including 9 of ESU's first 19. WARRIORS NOTES: Howard was named PSAC East Freshman of the Week for the 2nd time, averaging 10.3 ppg and 8.8 rpg over 4 games going into the break ... Howard is 2nd on ESU in scoring (10.5) and rebounding (7.3) ... Martin leads ESU in scoring (12.9) and rebounding (9.1), and leads the PSAC in blocks (2.8) ... Martin averaged 14.3 ppg, 11.0 rpg, 3.0 bpg and 2.3 spg in the last 4-game stretch before the holiday ... she is 2nd at ESU and 17th in PSAC history with 168 career blocks ... Martin had 3 straight double-doubles from Dec. 14 to Dec. 18 ... So. G Helena Gemmell leads the PSAC in steals (3.3) ... ESU is 2nd in scoring defense (61.2) and field goal % defense (36.0) ... SCOUTING THE GOLDEN EAGLES: Clarion (4-6) lost 72-52 at Bloomsburg Friday ... team is led by Sr. G Emma Fickel (14.2 ppg), Fr. G Kelly Johnson (14.1 ppg) and Jr. F Hannah Heeter (13.8 ppg, 13.0 rpg) ... Heeter, a standout on Clarion's volleyball team, has played 4 games this year.

EAST STROUDSBURG - East Stroudsburg University made 15 three-pointers, their most in 12 seasons under head coach Jeff Wilson, and matched its best-ever start at 13-0 with a 101-69 win over Clarion on Saturday at Koehler Fieldhouse.

Redshirt junior guard Will Brown (four 3's) led ESU with 17 points and was one of five Warriors to hit at least two three-pointers.

The Warriors matched the 2009-10 team with their unbeaten start, and will have the opportunity to break that mark - and match the single-season record for a winning streak - when they travel to Pitt-Johnstown on Wednesday to close the non-conference PSAC crossover schedule.


THE MATCH-UP: ESU (12-0), ranked No. 10 in this week's NABC DII poll, hosts Clarion at Koehler Fieldhouse. ESU is 5-5 against Clarion under 12th-year head coach Jeff Wilson and has won 4 of the last 6, including a 75-51 home win last December.

LAST TIME OUT: So. G Jamal Nwaniekema scored a season-high 25 points as ESU continued its unbeaten start with a 75-60 win over Gannon. Fr. F Rasheed Moore had 14 points and 6 rebounds, Jr. G Matt Tobin had 13 points and 6 assists and Jr. G Whis Grant scored 10 points off the bench.
