ESU Women’s Volleyball Falls in PSAC Crossover Play

EAST STROUDSBURG - Freshman outside hitter Desiree Claxton had 39 total kills and 36 digs, but East Stroudsburg University dropped four PSAC crossover matches in western Pennsylvania on Friday and Saturday.
 
ESU (6-16, 2-12) fell in three sets to Clarion and Seton Hill on Friday at Clarion, and in four sets to IUP and three sets to California on Saturday at IUP.
 
Senior outside hitter Abby Welch had 22 kills and senior Annabelle Charlton had 15 kills, 52 assists and 27 digs to lead the Warriors on the weekend. Redshirt junior libero Haley Mork had a team-high 47 digs and junior Maddie Hutchison had 29 in two matches.
 
ESU concluded its PSAC crossover schedule and hosts West Chester (12-10, 4-9) on Thursday at 7 p.m.
 
Clarion (L 3-0 - 25-17, 25-16, 25-18)
 
Claxton had 10 kills, Charlton had 13 assists and seven digs and Hutchison had 11 digs to pace the Warriors.
 
Taylor Braunagel had 12 kills to lead Clarion, which leads the PSAC West at 20-2 (12-1).
 
Seton Hill (L 3-0 - 25-16, 25-18, 25-16)
 
Claxton had a team-high seven kills, Charlton had 13 assists, freshman Erica Cunningham added 10 and Hutchison had 10 digs.
 
Two players had eight kills and Lauren Teed had 15 digs for Seton Hill (20-2, 11-2).
 
IUP (L 3-1 - 25-20, 20-25, 25-14, 25-17)
 
Claxton (15) and Welch (10) both hit double-figure kills for the Warriors, and Claxton added 18 digs in the four-set loss. Charlton had 16 assists, Cunningham had 14 and Mork contributed 15 digs.
 
IUP had three players reach double-figures in kills, led by 13 from Elizabeth Sova. Lindsay Moeller had 45 assists for the Crimson Hawks (9-11, 5-8).
 
California (L 3-0 - 25-12, 25-21, 25-17)
 
Claxton's team-high seven kills paced ESU and Charlton had five kills, 10 assists and nine digs. Mork led the Warriors with 18 digs.
 
Laurel Miller's 13 kills and 13 digs led California (18-5, 11-2).
