EAST STROUDSBURG - Junior forward Sammi Jo Hughes scored the game's only goal with 1:45 left in the first overtime, lifting No. 6-ranked East Stroudsburg University to a 1-0 (OT) win over Shippensburg in PSAC women's soccer and its 12th straight victory on Saturday at Eiler-Martin Stadium.

Hughes scored on an assist from sophomore midfielder Shea Neal as the Warriors improved to 12-1 (11-1 PSAC) and remain tied atop the PSAC standings with West Chester with 33 points. The Warriors have won every game since a 1-0 loss to Kutztown to open the season on September 4.

Freshman goalkeeper Jules Harris made one save for her fifth shutout in 11 starts for the Warriors, who held a 14-5 advantage in shots and a 7-3 margin in corner kicks.

Hughes leads active Warriors with 12 career goals and has scored four goals in each of her first three seasons. The overtime game-winner was the first of her career.

Shippensburg (3-6-3, 3-6-3), which conceded just 11 goals in its first 11 games, got three saves from Kayla Kennedy in goal.

ESU's 12-game winning streak is one shy of the single-season record of 13 wins set by the 1994 team, which won the first-ever PSAC championship awarded in women's soccer.

The Warriors' 11-game PSAC winning streak is by far the longest in school history, surpassing six-game streaks in 1997, 1998 and 2007.

ESU won in overtime for the third time in eight games, also posting a 2-1 (OT) win over Bloomsburg on September 24 and a 2-1 (OT) win at West Chester on September 30. The Warriors' three overtime wins this year are their most since 1999.

ESU hosts Seton Hill (5-7-2, 5-5-2) on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at Eiler-Martin Stadium. The Griffins are coming off a 3-1 home win against Mercyhurst on Saturday.
