No. 8 ESU Field Hockey Posts 5-0 Win over Seton Hill

EAST STROUDSBURG - No. 8-ranked East Stroudsburg University scored all five of its goals in the first half, including three in the final six minutes, to post a 5-0 win over Seton Hill in PSAC field hockey on Saturday at Whitenight Field.
 
Senior forward Jessica Lawville scored two goals, junior forward Ally Roth had a goal and an assist and junior midfielder Samantha Hosford and sophomore forward Robin Stevenson also scored for ESU (9-5, 7-3), which has a five-game winning streak for the first time since going 11-0 to open the 2010 season.
 
Senior midfielder Katie Barbato added two assists and junior forward Marisa Miro and sophomore midfielder Desiraye Mack also had assists for the Warriors.
 
ESU held a 21-4 advantage in shots and had a 17-1 advantage in penalty corners against Seton Hill (0-12, 0-10).
 
Jane Eberhardt made seven saves and Alexandra Piekarz had four saves for the Griffins.
 
Sophomore Danielle Ard and freshman Shelby Drissel split time in goal for ESU.
 
Lawville moved into ESU's top 10 with 36 career goals, including 13 this season.
 
Roth, second in Division II in both goals per game (1.31) and points per game (3.08) entering the weekend, pushed her season totals to 18 goals and seven assists, and her career goal total to 49.
 
ESU travels to Millersville (12-2, 8-2), ranked No. 1 in last week's NFHCA DII poll, on Tuesday, and hosts IUP (6-7, 4-6) on Saturday in a pivotal week with four games remaining in the conference schedule.
 
The Warriors are currently fourth in the PSAC standings with the top six schools advancing to the PSAC Tournament. ESU is looking for its first back-to-back PSAC Tournament appearances since 2001-02.
