Roth Sets ESU Career Points Record in Field Hockey’s 5-1 Win vs. IUP

EAST STROUDSBURG - Junior forward Ally Roth scored four goals and set an East Stroudsburg University record for career points as the Warriors posted a 5-1 win over IUP in PSAC field hockey on Saturday at Whitenight Field.
 
Roth had her second career four-goal game, and fifth career hat trick, netting all four goals in the second half after the game was tied 1-1 at halftime.

The win brings ESU (10-6, 8-4) closer to its second straight PSAC Tournament appearance, which would be the program's first in consecutive years since 2001-02. IUP falls to 6-9 (4-8). The Warriors won the first meeting, 4-0, at IUP on Sept. 17. ESU also secured its first winning season since going 17-6 in 2010.
 
Roth has 126 career points on 53 goals and 20 assists, including 22 goals and seven assists this season. She broke ESU's career record of 125 points held by Ashley Kocis (2003-06) and is three goals from Kocis' career record of 56 goals.
 
Senior forward Jessica Lawville added a goal and two assists, moving into a tie for sixth at ESU with 37 career goals and into eight with 89 career points. She has 14 goals and four assists on the season.
 
Lawville scored the game's first goal with just under 10 minutes left in the first half, but IUP's Haley Fidler tied the score at 1-1 with 1:26 left until intermission.
 
Roth broke the tie on a penalty stroke for her 50th career goal just 2:42 into the second half, and added three more goals in the final 25 minutes.
 
Sophomore midfielder Desiraye Mack and senior midfielder Gabrielle Seibert added assists for the Warriors.
 
Sophomore Danielle Ard (65:03) and freshman Shelby Drissel (4:57) shared time in goal for ESU. Darian Shuker had eight saves for IUP.

The Warriors held a 24-2 advantage in shots and a 14-2 margin in penalty corners.
 
ESU hosts Shippensburg in a key PSAC game on Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Whitenight Field. The Warriors host Kutztown in their final game of the regular season next Saturday (Nov. 8) at 1 p.m.
