ESU Women’s Volleyball Falls at West Chester, 3-0, in 2014 Finale

WEST CHESTER - Julia O'Brien had 20 kills on 33 attacks to lead West Chester to a 3-0 win over East Stroudsburg University in the Warriors' final women's volleyball match of the 2014 season on Saturday at Hollinger Fieldhouse.
 
Senior outside hitter Abby Welch had 10 kills to go over the 300-kill mark for the second straight year and senior Annabelle Charlton had seven kills, 15 assists and 13 digs in their final collegiate matches for the Warriors.

West Chester (20-13, 10-12) won by set scores of 25-22, 25-8 and 26-24. Annallee Halbert had 31 assists and Callie Krajcir led WCU with 19 digs.

ESU's season ends at 7-24 (3-19 PSAC).
 
Also finishing their college careers for ESU were libero Haley Mork, who had 816 career digs in three seasons, and middle blocker Elizabeth Higley, who had a team-high 87 blocks in 2014.
 
Welch finishes the season as ESU's leader with 302 kills after posting 301 as a junior.
 
Charlton closes her career ranked eighth at ESU with 1,239 assists, posted more than 900 digs (908) and more than 500 kills (546). She has 10 of the Warriors' 13 triple-doubles in the last 13 years.
 
Junior libero Maddie Hutchison had 16 digs, finishing the year with 522 digs (ninth in school history) and 5.44 digs per set (ranking sixth). She will enter her senior season ranked fourth on ESU's career digs list with 1,453.
 
Freshman outside hitter Desiree Claxton closed the season with 299 kills and 257 digs - the first ESU player with 250 in both categories since 2004. She ranks second on ESU's freshman list for kills, and third in kills per set (2.88).
