MenMANSFIELD - Sophomore
Allison Decker finished second, ESU's top finish in 10 years, and junior
Chelsea Conover placed sixth to lead East Stroudsburg University's women's cross country team to a sixth-place finish at the PSAC Championships on Saturday at Mansfield.
Â
ESU's men placed seventh with sophomore
Alec Lederer the top individual, finishing 39th. All five of the Warriors scorers were grouped from 39th to 59th and had a 57-second spread.
Â
Decker ran the 6K course in 21:24.6, knocking more than 45 seconds off her time on the same course at Mansfield two weeks ago. She was seven seconds behind the PSAC champion, Bloomsburg senior Lauren Lehman (21:17.3), and was seven seconds clear of Edinboro's Kasey Jones (21:31.3) and Bloomsburg's Kate Dodds (21:32.6).
Conover was sixth in 21:53.5 - a massive improvement from her 37th-place finish as a sophomore in 2013.
Decker and Conover are the second set of ESU's women's teammates to finish in the top six at the PSAC Championships, joining Rose Mascoli (fifth) and Corinne Fitzgerald (sixth) in 2011.
Decker, a transfer from Division I Quinnipiac, is ESU's top women's finisher since Vanessa Andes was runner-up in 2003 and 2004. Jan Blake is ESU's only individual champion, winning in 1996.
Â
Junior
Melanie Riley (59th), freshman
Samantha Young (63rd) and sophomore
Lauren Toth (70th) rounded out ESU's five scorers.
Â

ESU's sixth-place finish on the women's side is its best since placing sixth in 2010.
Â
The Warriors' men finished outside the top six for the first time since 2005, recording eight straight top-six placements from 2006 through 2013.
Â
Lock Haven won the men's team championship for the seventh time in 12 years with 38 points, followed by Shippensburg (58), Edinboro (86), IUP (101), California (123), Slippery Rock (138), ESU (222) and Kutztown (255) in the top eight of 15 schools.
