Box Score

SHIPPENSBURG - Sophomore center Michelle Boggs had a career-high 15 points and 11 rebounds for her first career double-double, but Shippensburg used a big second half to post an 80-71 win over East Stroudsburg University in PSAC East women's basketball on Wednesday night at Heiges Field House.

Shippensburg (14-8, 8-4) moves one-half game ahead of ESU (13-10, 8-5) for third in the PSAC East with two weeks remaining in the regular season. The loss ends ESU's four-game winning streak, its longest in five years.

The Warriors clinched their second straight berth in the PSAC playoffs with Kutztown's 86-72 win over Cheyney. ESU is in contention for a top-four seed, which would bring a postseason game to Koehler Fieldhouse for the first time since 2007 - either in the first round on Saturday, March 1 or a quarterfinal game on Tuesday, March 4.

Boggs scored 13 of her 15 points in the first half, which featured six ties and 10 lead changes after Shippensburg opened with a 10-2 lead. Ship led 37-33 at the break and scored 43 points in the second half.

Senior guard Halie Cintron scored 12 points, freshman forward Allison Howard had 10 points and eight rebounds and junior guard Ryann Fiascki added eight points and four assists for ESU.

The Warriors were without junior forward Jessica Martin due to injury. Martin, the reigning PSAC East Athlete of the Week, averaged 18.5 points and 11.5 rebounds in wins over Lock Haven and Millersville last week.

Junior forward Kelsey Murray added seven points and five rebounds and sophomore forward Rachel Falkowski had seven points in the final 1:30, helping the Warriors rally from a 21-point deficit with 4:30 to go to get within single digits at the end.

Freshman Lauren Gold scored 24 points, Sarah Strybuc scored 18 and Stephanie Knauer had 15 for Shippensburg.

The Lady Raiders took the lead for good with an 11-2 run to close the first half, then went on a 24-10 run to start the second half.

ESU hosts Bloomsburg (19-3, 10-2) on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Koehler Fieldhouse. The Huskies, ranked No. 20 in Division II, have won 12 straight and were idle on Wednesday. Bloomsburg won the first meeting, 63-51, on January 15.
