Allison Schafer broke her own school record in the 1000 free and finished eighth in the conference to highlight East Stroudsburg University's performance on the first day of the 2014 PSAC Swimming Championships on Thursday.
Schafer clocked a time of 10:27.96 to lower her record of 10:34.06, which she set last season. She was the top finisher in the morning session, before the top eight seeded swimmers competed in the evening.
Schafer, who holds five school records, had her first career top-eight finish at a PSAC championship.
ESU's 200 medley relay of juniors

Cyndi Kline finished eighth in 1:51.35.
Stalnaker broke a school record in the 50 back on the first leg of the 200 medley relay, swimming 28.07 to break the mark of Natalie Weingartner (28.13) set in 2004.
ESU is ninth of 13 schools entering the second day of competition on Friday. The morning session will include prelims of the 400 IM, 100 fly and 200 free, with the evening holding finals in those three events, plus the 200 free relay and 400 medley relay.
