ESU Lacrosse Opens Season with 13-3 Win at Bridgeport

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. - Sophomore attack Kaitlynn Wiltraut scored five goals, including three as the Warriors led 8-0 at halftime, leading East Stroudsburg University to a 13-3 win at Bridgeport in the 2014 lacrosse season opener on Saturday at Bridgeport.

Sophomore attack Lauren Nunes scored three goals, sophomore midfielder Annastasia Porpora scored two and redshirt freshman Jamie Zimmer and freshmen Kristina Caprio and Lauren Green also found the net for the Warriors in their first career games.

Redshirt freshman goalkeeper Jessica Maxwell made 11 saves in her first career action for ESU, replacing four-year starter Amanda Simms.

The Warriors led 8-0 at halftime and 10-0 early in the second half before Bridgeport got on the board with 23:26 remaining. ESU was picked 12th of 13 teams in the PSAC preseason poll, while Bridgeport was picked eighth of nine in the East Coast Conference.

ESU will head back to Connecticut next Saturday for a 1 p.m. start at Southern Connecticut State.
