NEW YORK, N.Y. – Junior
Damien Boham set a school record in the men's 500m dash, highlighting East Stroudsburg University's performances at the Armory Collegiate Invitational in New York City on Friday.
Boham's time of 1:04.90 on the Armory's banked track breaks the record of 1:05.38 set by All-American Negus Graham. Graham's time was run on a flat track at Kutztown in January 2011. Boham finished fifth in a field of 45 athletes.
Senior
Kim Wernerspach hit the NCAA Division II provisional qualifying time in the 3000m in 10:05.99, the sixth-best in school history. Wernerspach's time is converted to 10:11.21 on the NCAA list. She was fifth in a field of 37.
ESU had four new PSAC qualifiers – sophomore
Derrick Washington in the men's 400m dash (50.49), senior
Chris Schneider (8:36.49) and junior
Steve Ruch (8:43.88) in the men's 3000m, and sophomore
Chelsea Conover in the women's 3000m (10:40.29). Ruch's time is the eighth-best in school history.
Schneider was third in a field of 25 in the men's 3000m.
Junior
Danielle Smith, a five-time PSAC champion, hit a season-best of 7.78 in the 60m dash. Smith clocked 25.41 in the 200m and senior
Rachel Pierantozzi ran 26.12.
Junior
Christina O'Connor, a returning All-American, tied for 12th in the high jump at 5-5 1/4 and was the only ESU field athlete to compete on Friday. O'Connor is on the NCAA DII provisional list at 5-7 1/4 two weeks ago at Bucknell.
The Warriors are back in action on Saturday at Susquehanna.
