EAST STROUDSBURG – Dominique Ficara and Mary Kociencki threw complete games as Kutztown posted 6-1 wins in both ends of a PSAC East softball doubleheader at East Stroudsburg University on Saturday afternoon.

Kociencki hit a three-run homer in the first inning of the opener and Colleen Smith was 4-for-4 with a homer and five RBI in game two for Kutztown (20-29, 11-17), last year's NCAA Division II runner-up which finished its 2014 season on Saturday.

ESU (14-27, 9-17) finishes the season on Sunday at Shippensburg, making up a doubleheader that was originally scheduled for Thursday.

Senior catcher Rebecca Smith hit an RBI single in the first game for ESU, and senior Amanda McKay was 2-for-3 with an RBI double in game two.

Senior Laura Suits threw 6.0 innings in relief, allowing just an unearned run, in the opener after Kutztown scored four runs in the first. Freshman Rachael Liguori got the start in game two, striking out eight and allowing three runs in 6.0 innings, before Suits pitched the seventh.

ESU had 13 hits in the doubleheader with sophomore 3B Haley Thomas going 3-for-6 to pace the offense.
