IndividualWEST CHESTER – Sophomore
Bridget Simons carded a second-round score of 96 and was East Stroudsburg University's top finisher at the Edwin Cottrell Invitational, hosted by West Chester Sunday and Monday at Penn Oaks Golf Club.
Simons tied for 34th in a field of 45 with a 36-hole score of 202. She was followed by junior
Malene Frost (t-36th, 203), freshman Theresa D'Iorio (t-38th, 204) and sophomore
Jen Jordan (44th, 257).
Frost had ESU's low round of the tournament with a 95 on Monday.
Merrimack won the team title by one stroke over Mercyhurst, 681 to 682. The top five teams all finished within 26 shots of each other, with Kutztown at 690, Seton Hill at 705 and West Chester at 707. Le Moyne (745), Millersville (760) and ESU (836) rounded out the field.
Merrimack's Ali Reed (160) was the medalist by one stroke over Mercyhurst's Caitlin Kempton (161).
ESU travels to upstate New York for the Le Moyne Invitational at Timber Banks Golf Course on Saturday and Sunday.
