WomenNORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. - Sophomore
Allison Decker won the women's individual title and junior
Chelsea Conover was third, pacing East Stroudsburg University's women's cross country team to a victory at the UMass-Dartmouth Invitational on Saturday.
Decker ran a time of 17:50.09 on the 5K course with Conover third in 17:57.97. Conover was second and Decker was third as ESU won the team title at Fordham two weeks ago in its season opener.
Freshman
Samantha Young was 25th (18:57.25), sophomore
Lauren Toth was 30th (19:03.68) and junior
Melanie Riley was 34th (19:12.32) for the Warriors, who bested a field of 38 schools. ESU had the same five scorers as the season opener.
ESU's men were seventh of 34 schools. Senior
Kyle Reese led the Warriors with a 28th-place finish (26:01.94) on the five-mile course. Freshman
Jeremy Rapposelli was 36th (26:08.09), sophomore
Anthony Ruiz 52nd (26:33.34), freshman
Dan Buccino 54th (26:36.31) and sophomore
Brad Meixsell 56th (26:37.26).
Reese led ESU in a meet for the first time, and Buccino had his first scoring performance.
The Warriors will run at the Paul Short Invitational at Lehigh on October 4.
