Margiotta Leads No. 7 LIU Post Past No. 5 ESU Field Hockey, 4-1

EAST STROUDSBURG - Keliann Margiotta, the top goal scorer in Division II, had three goals to lead No. 7-ranked LIU Post to a 4-1 win at No. 5 East Stroudsburg University in non-conference field hockey on Tuesday.
 
Margiotta gave LIU Post a 1-0 lead just over 10 minutes into the game, and scored twice in a stretch of 1:04 in the second half after ESU tied the game at 1-1.
 
Sophomore midfielder Desiraye Mack scored her second career goal for ESU 5:19 into the second half on an assist from senior midfielder Gabrielle Seibert to pull the Warriors even.
 
Margiotta scored at 54:09 and 55:13 for a 3-1 lead, and Kaycee Zelkovsky added LIU Post's fourth goal with 3:08 remaining.

ESU (4-3) entered as the top goal scoring team in DII, averaging 5.33 goals per game, with LIU Post (3-1) second with 5.0 goals per game.
 
Margiotta has scored 11 goals in four games this season and was ranked first in DII with 2.67 goals per game coming into the week. She has scored 50 career goals in 43 games.
 
LIU Post held a slim 9-8 advantage in shots and ESU had a 5-4 margin in penalty corners.
 
Sophomore goalkeeper Danielle Ard made three saves for the Warriors. Ericka Parks had two saves for the Pioneers, who have won six straight in the series since 2011.
 
ESU travels to Slippery Rock (3-4, 1-2) on Sunday for a PSAC contest. The Rock is coming off a 2-0 loss to No. 3-ranked and defending DII champion Shippensburg. The Warriors are 3-1 in PSAC action with their only loss coming 2-1 at Shippensburg on September 13.
