Warriors Basketball Hosts Mansfield on Wednesday

EAST STROUDSBURG – Sophomore forward Allison Howard had 21 points and 10 rebounds and East Stroudsburg University opened the second half on a 13-0 run, pushing the Warriors to a 74-53 win over Mansfield in PSAC East women's basketball on Wednesday night at Koehler Fieldhouse.

Senior forward Jessica Martin and sophomore forward Madison Tamburini added 12 points each for ESU (7-10, 6-7), which trailed 26-23 at halftime but scored 51 points in the second half.

The Warriors shot 47.5 percent (28-for-59) for the game and 60.6 percent (20-for-33) in the second half, beginning with the big surge at the start of the period. Howard and Martin both scored five points in the run and junior guard Melissa Poderis capped it with a three-pointer.

Poderis scored seven points, junior guard Tyeca Reviere had six points, five assists and five steals and junior center Michelle Boggs had six points for the Warriors.

Howard had her fifth career double-double and fourth career game with 20 points. Martin added five blocks to go with her 12 points, extending her school record to 252 career blocks, two away from the top five in PSAC history.

Katie Fitzpatrick scored 23 points to lead Mansfield (1-16, 0-13).

THE MATCH-UP: East Stroudsburg University hosts Mansfield in PSAC East women's basketball in tonight's first game at Koehler Fieldhouse. The Warriors (6-10, 5-7) are coming off a 69-63 loss to 2nd-place West Chester on Saturday, while Mansfield (1-15, 0-12) is looking for its first divisional win of the season. ESU has a 16-5 record against the Mounties in the last 10 years, including PSAC quarterfinal win in 2007, and has won 4 straight.

LAST TIME OUT: R-Sr. G Andrea Veres scored 12 points and ESU cut a 15-point deficit to 4 with 55 seconds left before West Chester held on. So.
