Luke DeLuise (184) and sophomore
Tyler Richardson (197) both won by technical fall as East Stroudsburg University posted a 26-17 dual win over Millersville in PSAC wrestling on Thursday night at Koehler Fieldhouse.
ESU won five of the nine bouts contested, three by bonus points, and gained a forfeit victory at 141 to post its first conference win of the season.
The Warriors opened a 17-0 lead through four bouts, starting at 174 pounds where redshirt sophomore
Matt Wax posted a 13-3 major decision over Joey Gonzales.
DeLuise, ranked No. 6 in the region, improved to 9-7 overall and 7-3 against regional competition with an 18-2 (5:22) technical fall of Kyle Narber. DeLuise picked up two sets of back points in the first period and led 10-1 after three minutes of action.
Richardson, who moved to No. 1 in the region at 197 on Monday, ran his record to 14-6 overall and 7-0 in the region. He posted a 16-0 (4:05) technical fall against Zachary Yackenchick, terminating the bout midway through the second period. Richardson led 11-0 after the opening period with an early takedown and nine back points.
Junior
Tyson Searer (285, #4 SR1) held off David Wuestner for a 6-4 decision after building a 4-1 lead and a sizeable riding time advantage through two periods. Searer is 17-7 overall (7-4 in-region) and improves to 31-7 in duals in his career.
Millersville got on the board at 125, where a takedown with seven seconds left gave Alex Baider a 5-4 decision over senior
Anthony Marino.
ESU gained a key decision at 133 as sophomore
Connor Maliff edged Sam Oberlander, 7-4. Maliff got a takedown and two back points in the final 11 seconds of the second period to take a 6-2 lead into the third.
Redshirt sophomore
Marius Kola won by forfeit for ESU at 141 to make the team score 26-3 and put the dual out of reach.
Millersville won the final three bouts with a major decision from Nico Demetrio (149), a second-period pin from Shane Ruhnke (157) and a major decision from Ian Shannon (165). Ruhnke and Shannon are both ranked in the region.
ESU improves to 5-6 (1-4 PSAC), while Millersville falls to 6-5 (1-4).
The Warriors are back on the mat next Friday at Koehler Fieldhouse with a regional dual against Wheeling Jesuit at 7 p.m.
