Results: Armory  l  Lehigh

NEW YORK, N.Y. and BETHLEHEM - Senior Christina O'Connor and junior William Berry improved their NCAA Division II provisional qualifying marks in the high jump as East Stroudsburg University athletes competed at the Armory Track Invitational on Friday in New York City, and the John Covert Classic on Saturday at Lehigh.

O'Connor cleared 5-8 at the Armory, improving on her provisional mark of 5-5 that she hit in the season opener at Lehigh in December.

Berry jumped 6-9 3/4, one inch better than his 6-8 3/4 at Lehigh.

Senior Danielle Smith (58.37), senior Damien Boham (50.23) and junior Derrick Washington (50.27) all had PSAC qualifying times in the 400m.

ESU's women's Distance Medley Relay clocked the #6 time in program history in 12:30.79 with sophomore Lauren Toth (3:51.62), Smith (59.23), freshman Samantha Young (2:23.84) and sophomore Allison Decker (5:16.11) contributing.

Selected members of the Warriors' squad also competed at Lehigh's John Covert Classic on Saturday.

Including performances at the Armory, the Warriors had 17 new PSAC qualifying times or marks (nine women, eight men) and five improved PSAC qualifiers (two women, three men).

ESU had four winners at Lehigh - Smith in the 200m (25.64), Decker in the 3000m (10:34.13), sophomore Steven Morgan in the 60m hurdles (8.35) and the men's 4x400m relay of freshman Juwaan Walker, Boham, sophomore Ronald D'Eliseo and Washington (3:24.49).

On the women's side, new PSAC qualifiers were turned in by freshman Taylor Powers in the 60m dash (8.15), Smith in the 200m (25.64), sophomore Erin Brady in the 400m (1:01.70), Toth in the 800m (2:25.47), Young in the mile (5:22.72), Decker in the 3000m (10:34.13) and sophomore Kelley Anne Stuetz in the 60m hurdles (9.89) and high jump (5-1).

Freshman Jaid Harsch improved her PSAC time in the 60m hurdles (9.58).

For the men, new PSAC qualifiers are freshmen Ernest Pendleton (7.19) and Montel Johnson-Troupe (7.21) in the 60m dash, Walker in the 400m (51.71), sophomore Alec Lederer in the 3000m (8:57.47), sophomore John Alston in the 60m hurdles (8.86) and freshman Brad Najac in the triple jump (42-5 1/2).

Morgan (200m, 22.99) and senior Mike Smith (weight throw, 55-4 3/4) had improved PSAC marks.

ESU will host the 16th Annual DeSchriver Invitational on Saturday, February 7 at Koehler Fieldhouse.
