Desiraye Mack scored the game's first goal and assisted on the game-winner by senior forward
Ally Roth 1:08 into overtime, giving No. 3-ranked East Stroudsburg University a 2-1 (OT) win over Mercyhurst on Saturday afternoon at Whitenight Field.
Mack scored 24:11 into the contest, and ESU held a 1-0 lead for the next 25 minutes until Emily Koestler tied the game at 1-1 with 21:27 remaining in regulation.
Roth scored on the first shot of overtime, knocking in a pass from Mack to lift the Warriors to 8-2 (3-0 PSAC).
ESU had a 22-6 advantage in shots and 9-2 edge in shots on goal. Sam Takac made seven saves for Mercyhurst (3-7, 1-3) and junior goalkeeper
Danielle Ard had one save for ESU.
Roth's goal was the 60th of her career, extending her school record. Roth and Mack both have seven goals this season, tied for the team lead.
ESU has allowed just seven goals through its first 10 games and hasn't allowed more than one goal in any game. The Warriors posted their second OT win of the season, also winning 2-1 (OT) at Slippery Rock on September 19.
ESU improves to 17-1 against Mercyhurst in the all-time series. The Warriors won both games, 2-1, in 2014, with an overtime victory on the road in the regular season and a home victory in the first round of the PSAC Tournament.
ESU hosts Mansfield on Wednesday at 4 p.m. at Whitenight Field.
