ESU Wrestling Posts Dual Wins vs. Ohio Valley (42-0) and Muhlenberg (45-3)

ALLENTOWN - Junior Tyler Richardson (197 pounds) and redshirt freshman Dylan Nace (141) both earned a pair of falls as East Stroudsburg University posted a pair of dual wins, 42-0 vs. Ohio Valley and 45-3 vs. Muhlenberg, in a tri-meet hosted by Muhlenberg on Saturday.

ESU wrestlers were 17-1 on the mat and picked up their other two wins by forfeit as they finished the first semester of competition. The Warriors will return to the mat on January 9 with a home tri-meet vs. Super Region 1 opponents LIU Post and West Liberty at 1 p.m. at Koehler Fieldhouse.

The win over Ohio Valley featured one bout between ranked wrestlers in Super Region 1, where ESU junior Joey Kratochvil (SR1 No. 5) won a 3-1 decision vs. Nicholoz Varazashvilli (SR1 No. 6).

The Warriors won 10 bouts by bonus points, from eight different wrestlers, including six falls.

Richardson (8-3, 4-1 duals), ranked No. 5 in the region at 197, was on the mat for just 3:07 in posting a pair of falls.

Nace (10-2, 4-0) wrestled for 4:57 to record his pins, working 1:25 vs. Ohio Valley and early in the second period (3:32) vs. Muhlenberg.

Redshirt freshman Collyn Dorney (125), Nace (141), redshirt freshman Blake Cohen (149), Kratochvil (157), redshirt freshman Vickson Krah (165), redshirt junior Joe Welk (174), junior Brandon Steele (184), Richardson (197) and senior Tyson Searer (285) were all 2-0 on the day.

Dorney (9-5, 4-1) won by decision vs. Ohio Valley and via forfeit vs. Muhlenberg. Redshirt junior Marius Kola (4-3, 3-1) won by decision vs. Ohio Valley and dropped his second match of the day by decision.

Cohen (3-0, 3-0) won by major decision and decision, and Kratochvil (5-5, 4-1) won by decision vs. Ohio Valley and major decision vs. Muhlenberg.

Krah (5-5, 3-1) won by tech fall and decision. Welk (2-0, 2-0) won by forfeit vs. Ohio Valley and tech fall vs. Muhlenberg in his first dual action since 2012-13. A starting wide receiver and kick returner in 2015 and a four-year letterwinner for the Warriors' football team, Welk is listed No. 5 in the regional rankings at 174.

Steele (4-6, 3-2) won by decision vs. Ohio Valley and had a first-period fall vs. Muhlenberg.

Searer (7-6, 3-2), ranked No. 4in the region at 285, won by decision vs. Ohio Valley and won by fall with one second remaining vs. Muhlenberg.
