Allison Howard had 19 points and 11 rebounds for her second straight double-double, and sophomore guard
Imani Brown had career-highs with 15 points and eight boards as East Stroudsburg posted a 59-50 win over Mercyhurst in PSAC women's basketball on Saturday at Koehler Fieldhouse.
Howard, who had 19 points and 13 rebounds in a 74-67 loss to Edinboro on Friday night, scored 13 of ESU's 40 second-half points after the Warriors trailed 20-19 at halftime.
Junior guard
Rachel Falkowski added a career-high 13 points and senior guard
Tyeca Reviere had seven points, five rebounds and seven assists for ESU (2-7, 1-5).
Sophomore forward
Rebecca Rutkowski had two points, a career-high 10 rebounds and eight blocked shots, second-most in school history.
Angela Heintz had 15 points and 14 rebounds and Adrienne Kloeckner scored 12 points, going over 1,000 for her career, for Mercyhurst (3-7, 2-4).
Mercyhurst led 35-34 entering the fourth quarter, but a three-point play by Falkowski gave ESU the lead, and Howard scored on an assist from Brown that put the Warriors ahead for good (41-39) with 6:48 left.
Brown hit a three-pointer and Howard had a layup, both set up by Reviere, to complete a 7-0 run. After Natalie Piaggesi split a pair of free throws, Howard drilled a three that extended ESU's lead to 49-40 with just over three minutes left.
Reviere scored to reestablish the nine-point lead (51-42) with 1:04 remaining, and Brown (5-for-6) and Reviere (3-for-4) closed out the game at the foul line in the final minute.
Howard had her second double-double of the season and the seventh of her career for the Warriors. She leads the Warriors with 15.4 points and 7.3 rebounds through nine games.
Rutkowski's eight blocked shots are one shy of the school record of nine by
Jessica Martin in 2013 vs. Shippensburg. Martin, a four-time All-PSAC East selection, finished her career last year with 274 blocks, fourth-most in PSAC history.
Helped by its nine blocked shots, ESU held Mercyhurst to 18-for-59 (30.5 percent) from the field. The Lakers were just 5-for-23 from the three-point line and ESU had a 49-39 rebounding advantage.
ESU is off this week for finals and returns to the floor on Monday, December 14 at Holy Family at 6 p.m.
