Jessica Martin had 20 points and seven rebounds in her final collegiate game, but Shippensburg put four players in double figures and posted an 83-60 win over East Stroudsburg University in the first round of the PSAC Women's Basketball Tournament on Saturday afternoon at Heiges Field House.
Haley Scullion had 16 points and 10 rebounds off the bench, Lauren Gold and Colleen Young scored 13 points each and Morgan Griffith had 10 points and nine rebounds for Shippensburg (19-10), which advances to play No. 2 seed West Chester (22-4) on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.
Martin had her fourth game with 20+ points this season and the ninth of her career for ESU. She finishes ranked eighth at ESU in career points (1,213), fourth in rebounds (848) and first in blocked shots (274), ranking fourth in PSAC history. She entered the weekend as the PSAC leader with 2.5 blocks per game this season and had two vs. Ship.

Kelsey Murray had nine points and tied her career-high with seven rebounds in 24 minutes of action. Redshirt senior guard

ESU (11-16) made its third straight appearance in the PSAC Tournament and was the No. 6 seed. The Warriors were 11-15 (10-12 PSAC East) in the regular season but were the bottom team in a three-team tiebreaker for playoff seeding, drawing a tough road game at Ship, where ESU hasn't won since 1987.
Shippensburg shot 45.9 percent (28-for-61) from the field and was 22-for-26 at the foul line, led by an 11-of-12 mark from Gold, the PSAC leader in free throw percentage. Scullion was 7-for-8 from the floor for the Raiders.
ESU shot 39.1 percent (25-for-64) with Martin going 8-for-16. ESU was 7-for-15 at the foul line and Ship held a 46-33 rebounding advantage.
Martin finishes as ESU's leader in scoring (12.0 ppg) and rebounding (7.4 rpg) for the third straight season. She is the second player to lead ESU in both categories in three straight years, joining Jackie Yandrisevits (2007-09), since rebounding totals are available in 1978.
Martin can become the third four-time All-PSAC East selection in program history, joining Yandrisevits (2006-09) and Stacy Perryman (1993-96).
Veres set a program record with her 112th career game, breaking a tie with Perryman, Yandrisevits, Amy Jones and Lori Pio. Veres received a medical redshirt after playing in six games last season due to injury. She finishes her career with 925 career points, 235 assists (10th at ESU, 156 three-pointers (2nd at ESU) and an 80.6 free throw percentage (2nd).
Senior guard
Ryann Fiascki did not play due to an injury she suffered in a 56-41 loss to Kutztown on Wednesday. Fiascki averaged 11.6 points in 14 games and averaged 12.9 ppg in 12 games to open the season before an injury on January 3. Fiascki ends her career with 839 points, 227 assists and a school record for free throw percentage (81.0, 294-for-363), breaking the previous mark of 80.0 held by Monika Fogelsanger (2004-08).
