DeLuise reached the quarterfinals with a10-8:sv1 victory over Zev Green (Lake Erie) before dropping a 16-0 (4:15) technical fall against No. 3-ranked Nick Burghart (Maryville), a 2014 All-American, and a 7-2 decision to Terrence Smith (Shorter).
Richardson lost a 6-3 decision to No. 5 Jayd Docken (Augustana), a four-time national qualifier and 2013 All-American, in his opening bout. He rebounded with an 8-7 decision over Brandon O'Neill (Ashland) before a 10-6 setback to Jacob Cramer (Tiffin), a three-time national qualifier.
DeLuise and Richardson were the 10th and 11th ESU wrestlers to reach the NCAA Championships in six seasons in DII (since 2010).
DeLuise rallied from a 4-1 deficit after the first period in his first-round win over Green. He had a takedown and three near-fall points in the second period, and two escapes in the third period to force sudden victory, where he took down Green after 22 seconds to advance to the quarterfinals.
Richardson also used a second-period takedown and three near-fall points to secure his win over O'Neill in the consolations. After a scoreless first period, Richardson led 5-3 through two periods and held off O'Neill with three key escapes in the third.
Richardson avenged a 7-6 setback to O'Neill in the Ashland Duals on January 3.
The top eight finishers, which advanced to Saturday's sessions, earned All-America honors.
ESU has four All-Americans in DII since 2010 - Shane Mallory (2010 - 184),
