O’Connor Hits NCAA DII Provisional Qualifier at Lafayette 7-Way Meet

EASTON - Senior Christina O'Connor hit the NCAA Division II provisional qualifying standard in the high jump with a mark of 5-7 to lead East Stroudsburg University at the Lafayette 7-Way Meet on Sunday.

O'Connor, coming off her third career All-America honor during the indoor season, has achieved the NCAA provisional standard in seven of her eight seasons of competition for the Warriors. She was the PSAC Field Athlete of the Year and USTFCCCA Women's Field Athlete of the Year, tying the PSAC indoor record at 5-10.

ESU athletes had 12 new and four improved PSAC qualifying marks and won 14 events against the DII/DIII field. Results were separated based on NCAA classification.

Senior Danielle Smith made her outdoor debut with a PSAC qualifying time of 12.45 in the 100m dash. Smith set ESU's record with her eighth career PSAC title during the indoor season.

Senior Elizabeth Madden improved her PSAC mark in the hammer (158-10). Other PSAC qualifiers came from freshman Keneesha Jones in the 100m (12.72), freshman Jaid Harsch in the 400m hurdles (1:06.82), junior Tirzah Johnson in the long jump (17-0 3/4) and sophomore Alysha Menzies in the shot put (36-10 1/2).

Men's improved PSAC qualifiers came from sophomore Ronald D'Eliseo in the 400m hurdles (54.24), junior Adam Robertino in the 110m hurdles (15.46) and senior Casey Ciaston in the discus (152-11).

New PSAC standards were turned in by senior Kyle Rickard in the 100m dash (11.19), freshman Juwaan Walker in the 200m (22.68), senior Steve Ruch (9:49.87) and sophomore Alec Lederer (9:57.01) in the 300m steeplechase, junior William Berry in the high jump (6-6 1/4) and sophomore Steven Morgan in the long jump (21-6 1/4).

Women's event winners were - Smith in the 110m, junior Chelsea Conover in the 3000m (10:41.65), Harsch in the 400m hurdles, freshman Kaylyn West in the 3000m steeplechase (12:15.20), O'Connor in the high jump, Johnson in the long jump and Madden in the hammer.

Men's event winners were - senior Damien Boham in the 800m (1:59.14), D'Eliseo and Robertino in the 110m hurdles, D'Eliseo in the 400m hurdles, Berry in the high jump, senior Mike Smith in the shot put (48-3 1/4), Ciaston in the discus and graduate student Jack Rosenstein in the hammer (171-9).
