Steven Morgan (110m hurdles) and
Ronald D'Eliseo (400m hurdles) ran NCAA Division II provisional qualifying times to lead East Stroudsburg University's track and field performances at two events this weekend.
Morgan ran 14.44 in the 110m hurdles at Moravian, the second-fastest time in school history and just three-hundredths off the school record of 14.41 set by Rusty Smith in 2009. Morgan tied his PR of 14.69 in the prelims.
D'Eliseo ran 53.29 in the 400m hurdles, also at Moravian. He ran his PR of 52.85 last spring.
Senior
Christina O'Connor, who competed at Bucknell's Bison Open, improved her PSAC-leading NCAA provisional mark in the women's high jump to 5-7 1/4. O'Connor was second in a strong field.
Junior
William Berry was second in the men's high jump at 6-6 1/4, tying his season best which ranks second in the PSAC.
Overall, ESU's women's athletes had eight new and three improved PSAC qualifying performances, and ESU's men had seven new and eight improved PSAC marks.
Several Warriors etched spots on ESU's all-time top 10 lists, including two impressive 10K runs at Bucknell.
Sophomore
Allison Decker (36:58.51, ESU #7) and senior
Caitlin Perry (37:22.85, ESU #10) both ran PSAC qualifying times.
Junior
Chelsea Conover ran ESU's 10th-best time in the 5000m (18:03.03) and senior
Stephanie Soni ran ESU's eighth-best time in the 3000m steeplechase (11:51.10), also new PSAC qualifiers turned in at Bucknell.
Competing at Moravian, freshman
Taylor Watkins improved her PSAC qualifier in the javelin and had ESU's seventh-best mark (126-10).
The women's 4x100m relay of junior
Tirzah Johnson, freshmen
Keneesha Jones and
Taylor Powers and senior
Danielle Smith clocked a season-best and ESU's seventh-fastest time (48.26).
Adding PSAC qualifying marks at Bucknell were senior
Steve Ruch in the 1500m (4:02.92) and sophomore
Alec Lederer in the 5000m (15:21.18). Sophomore
Anthony Ruiz improved his PSAC time in the 3000m steeplechase (9:42.82).
Senior
Mike Smith improved his PSAC mark in the hammer (166-0), just off his PR of 167-10, and had a mark of 49-8 1/2 in the shot put.
Graduate student
Elizabeth Madden had a mark of 146-3 in the women's hammer and has a PSAC top-10 mark (158-10 last week at Lafayette) this season.
ESU's women had four new and two improved PSAC marks at Moravian. Freshman
Hope Decker qualified in the 400m (59.52), freshman
Jaid Harsch in the 100m hurdles (15.67), sophomore
Kelley Anne Stuetz in the 400m hurdles (1:06.85) and
Tirzah Johnson in the triple jump (35-8 3/4). Improved PSAC qualifiers were
Keneesha Jones in the 200m (26.02) and Watkins in the javelin.
ESU's men had five new and five improved PSAC qualifiers at Moravian.
D'Eliseo ran 11.14 for a new PSAC qualifier in the 100m dash, along with his improved PSAC time (and NCAA DII provisional time) of 53.29 in the 400m hurdles.
Morgan improved his PSAC marks in the 110m hurdles (14.44 - NCAA provisional) and long jump (21-9). Junior
Adam Robertino improved his PSAC 110m hurdles time (15.09) as well.
Senior
Damien Boham qualified in the 400m (48.97) and freshman
Juwaan Walker improved his 400m time (49.83).
Other new PSAC times came from freshmen
Eli Mercado (1:56.26) and
Sean Halligan (1:56.79) in the 800m, and junior
Derrick Washington in the 400m hurdles (54.63).
ESU's men won four events - Boham in the 400m, Mercado in the 800m, Morgan in the 110m hurdles and D'Eliseo in the 400m hurdles.
The 4x4 relay of Washington, Mercado, Walker and Halligan won in 3:22.19.
Danielle Smith was second in the women's 400m (58.69) at Moravian and has the PSAC's sixth-best time (58.41 at Washington & Lee) this spring.
Junior
Eric Conard had a strong outing at Kutztown's Mondschein Multis on Wednesday and Thursday, placing third with 5,743 points.
ESU hosts its 10th Annual All-American Meet on Saturday (April 18) at Eiler-Martin Stadium. The Warriors host the PSAC Outdoor Championships in three weeks (April 30-May 2) for the first time since 1985.
