Decker Wins Women’s Individual Title, Both ESU Teams 2nd at UMass-Dartmouth

DARTMOUTH, Mass. - Junior Allison Decker posted her second straight win on the UMass-Dartmouth course as East Stroudsburg University's men's and women's cross country teams both finished second in Saturday's meet.

Decker ran 17:40.82 on the 5K course for a 19-second margin of victory over Abby Shafer (New England College). Decker won in 17:50.09 last fall and won last week's DII/DIII meet at Fordham in the season opener.

ESU's women's team was second of 42 entrants. Senior Chelsea Conover placed fourth (18:08.07), sophomore Kaylyn West was 17th (18:48.69), senior Caitlin Perry 22nd (18:53.70) and sophomore Samantha Young 46th (19:42.04) for the Warriors.

ESU's men finished second in a field of 43 schools. Junior Alec Lederer paced the Warriors, finishing 12th in 25:43.57 on the 5 mile course.

Senior Alex Zubko was 20th (25:56.42), junior Anthony Ruiz 23rd (26:00.95), sophomore Jeremy Rapposelli 32nd (26:21.05) and senior Steve Ruch 44th (26:39.33).

Brandeis won both the men's and women's events. Ignatio Hernando of Southern New Hampshire was the top men's finisher in 25:13.61.

The Warriors are away from the course until Friday, October 2 with their annual venture to the Paul Short Invitational in Bethlehem.
