ESU Women’s Soccer Falls to Mercyhurst, 2-0

EAST STROUDSBURG - Allie Cornacchia and Carly Zimmerman scored second-half goals as Mercyhurst topped East Stroudsburg University, 2-0, in PSAC women's soccer on Sunday afternoon at Eiler-Martin Stadium.

ESU (4-2, 4-2) lost at home for the first time since the 2014 season opener, going 14-0-1 at home overall and 13-0 vs. PSAC competition since a 1-0 loss to Kutztown on September 4, 2014.

Cornacchia scored on a free kick in the 67th minute and Zimmerman scored on an assist from Nicole McAlpin three minutes later for the Lakers (2-2-2, 2-2-2).

ESU had a 12-3 advantage in shots but Mercyhurst scored on both of its shots on goal. The Warriors had two shots on goal and Ellie McDougall made two saves for the Lakers.

ESU falls to 24-3-1 overall, 22-3 vs. PSAC schools and 19-3 in PSAC regular season games since the start of the Warriors' 2014 PSAC championship season.

The Warriors are away from action until Saturday when they travel to Clarion for a PSAC contest.
