EAST STROUDSBURG - No. 4-ranked East Stroudsburg University scored two goals in each half and junior goalkeeper Danielle Ard made six saves as the Warriors posted a 4-0 win vs. No. 1 West Chester, their first over a No. 1-ranked team since 2010 and first vs. WCU since 1960, on Saturday afternoon at Whitenight Field.

Junior midfielder Desiraye Mack and senior midfielder Lindsay Blum scored within two minutes of each other in the first half, with 14:56 and 13:19 remaining in the period, to give the Warriors a 2-0 lead at halftime.

In the second half, freshman midfielder Paige Harrold scored just over 10 minutes into the period, and assisted on ESU's final goal by senior forward Ally Roth with 2:59 remaining to seal the victory.

West Chester (6-2, 0-2) had a 13-11 edge in shots and 6-4 advantage in penalty corners, but Ard kept the Golden Rams off the board. WCU fell 1-0 (OT) at No. 2 Millersville on Wednesday in its PSAC opener.

Sarah Krause started and made three saves, allowing three goals, for WCU before Brianna Magner (two saves, one goal allowed) entered to finish the game.

Blum and Harrold both scored their first career goals for the Warriors (6-2, 1-0), who won their PSAC opener.

Mack's goal was her fourth of the season and the seventh of her career. She scored three total goals in ESU's first two games of the season, wins over Stonehill and Adelphi.

Roth had her sixth goal of the season and the 59th of her career, extending her school record. She entered the week as the third-leading active scorer in DII.

The victory is ESU's first over a No. 1-ranked team since beating Shippensburg, 2-1, in the 2010 PSAC semifinals at Bloomsburg as the Warriors improve to 2-15 vs. No. 1 teams since NFHCA records are available in 2004.

ESU posted its first win vs. West Chester since a 4-1 win in 1960. The series was dormant between 1984 and 2010 when the Golden Rams were members of Division I. WCU had won the last nine meetings since 2011, including a pair of victories in the PSAC Tournament. WCU was 31-0-3 since ESU's win in 1960. The Warriors were 4-3-3 in the first 10 meetings from 1949-60 for an all-time series record of 5-34-6.

ESU travels to Bloomsburg for a PSAC game on Tuesday. The Warriors won 2-0 in a non-conference game on September 9 at Whitenight Field.
