Desiraye Mack scored two second-half goals as No. 3-ranked East Stroudsburg University blanked No. 5 Bloomsburg, 3-0, in PSAC field hockey on Tuesday afternoon.
ESU (7-2, 2-0), which posted a 4-0 win vs. previous No. 1 West Chester on Saturday, entered the top three of the NFHCA DII poll on Tuesday for the first time since the 2010 season.
Sophomore back
Hannah Caplan gave ESU a 1-0 lead at halftime, scoring her first career goal with 5:09 left before intermission.
Mack scored 4:55 into the second half on an assist by sophomore midfielder
Sydney McCarthy, and eight minutes later with an unassisted goal, to put the Warriors ahead 3-0. An All-PSAC third team selection as a sophomore, Mack has six goals this season and nine in her career.
ESU held an 11-7 advantage in shots on goal and junior goalkeeper
Danielle Ard made two saves for her third shutout of the season.
Lindsay Cassel had four saves for Bloomsburg (6-3, 2-1), which won 3-1 vs. Slippery Rock and 4-0 at Mansfield in its first two PSAC games.
The Warriors entered the week ranked third in DII, allowing 0.74 goals per game, and have surrendered just six goals in nine games this season.
ESU posted its second shutout vs. Bloomsburg this year, winning 2-0 in a non-conference game at Whitenight Field on Sept. 9.
The victory is ESU's fourth over the Huskies in the last five meetings, and first at Bloomsburg since a 3-2 win in 2010. BU holds a 45-9 edge in the all-time series.
The Warriors host Mercyhurst on Saturday at 1 p.m.
