EAST STROUDSBURG - Senior guard Tyeca Reviere hit a three-pointer at the buzzer, lifting East Stroudsburg University to a 74-73 upset of No. 13-ranked California (Pa.) in PSAC women's basketball on Sunday afternoon at Koehler Fieldhouse.

ESU (5-7, 3-5) posted its first win over a nationally-ranked opponent since 1995, rallying from a 10-point deficit in the third quarter and a six-point margin with less than three minutes remaining to knock of the Vulcans (8-3, 6-2), the defending PSAC and NCAA Division II champions.

Reviere's three-pointer from the left wing, assisted by junior forward Madison Tamburini, capped a frantic final minute and came after ESU's inbounds pass from under its own basket with five seconds left was deflected towards the midcourt line. Tamburini recovered the ball and found Reviere, who dribbled into a three-point shot that connected as time expired.

Sophomore guard Imani Brown scored a career-high 28 points, junior forward Allison Howard had 16 points and 14 rebounds, Reviere had nine points, nine rebounds and six assists and senior guard Melissa Poderis had seven points, seven rebounds and six assists for ESU.

Miki Glenn, the PSAC's leading scorer (19.2 ppg), had 25 points, five rebounds and five assists to lead California (8-3, 6-2). Glenn also entered second in the PSAC in free throw percentage (91.5), but was just 4-for-6 in the final minute and 2-for-4 in the final 15 seconds to give ESU a chance to rally.

Shatara Parsons added 19 points and eight rebounds and Morgan Jennings had 11 points for Cal. Seairra Barrett contributed four points, 10 rebounds and five assists.

ESU trailed 19-9 after the first quarter, weathering a 14-0 Cal run, and closed the margin to 35-32 at halftime.

Cal pushed its lead to 46-36 midway through the third quarter, but the Warriors finished the stanza on an 11-4 run capped by a fastbreak putback by Reviere to make it 50-47 entering the fourth quarter.

ESU tied the game four times in the fourth quarter, the last at 58-58 on a jumper by Brown with six minutes left, before Cal scored the next six to take a 64-58 lead on a putback by Parsons with 3:19 remaining.

It was 67-62 with 1:57 left after Parsons split a pair of free throws, but the Warriors tied it 45 seconds later. Howard hit a three-pointer, then rebounded a putback attempt by Parsons and Brown scored at the other end to make it 67-67 with 1:11 remaining.

Barrett made two free throws to give Cal a 69-67 lead with 45 seconds left, and ESU had an offensive rebound but turned it over, leading to two free throws by Glenn for a 71-67 edge with 28 seconds left.

Brown cut the deficit to two (71-69) with two free throws with 20 seconds left, then Glenn missed the first and made the second at the other end for a 72-69 score with 15 seconds remaining.

Howard hit a driving layup to get the Warriors within one (72-71), and Glenn was fouled and missed the second free throw after giving the Vulcans a 73-71 lead with 10 seconds showing.

Cal had several fouls to give and forced ESU to inbound with five seconds left before Reviere's buzzer-beater triggered the upset.

ESU held the lead in the contest for 50 seconds - first at 2-0, and then at 74-73.

Brown set a career-high in points for the second straight game after scoring 19 in a 96-60 win vs. Cheyney on December 19. She scored 16 of ESU's 23 points in the second quarter and had eight in the fourth quarter.

Howard posted her fourth double-double of the season and the ninth of her career. She leads the Warriors with 15.2 points and 8.3 rebounds through 12 games.

Senior center Michelle Boggs had four points and five rebounds and Tamburini and junior guard Rachel Falkowski added four points each for ESU.

The Warriors had eight players see action with Poderis playing all 40 minutes, Howard 38 and Reviere 35.

ESU's previous win over a nationally-ranked team was an 80-69 victory vs. No. 19-ranked Shippensburg in the PSAC semifinals on March 3, 1995 at Koehler Fieldhouse.

The Warriors improve to 3-46 overall vs. ranked opponents and had dropped 39 straight. Their other top-25 win was a 68-49 verdict vs. No. 10-ranked Army on January 30, 1986.

ESU knocked off a defending PSAC champion for the first time since a 60-44 win vs. California on January 13, 2007.
