Box Score

EAST STROUDSBURG – Sophomore Tina Predojevic had 29 assists, one shy of her career-high and her most ever in a three-set match, and freshman Sarah Smith added 12 kills, but those efforts were not enough as East Stroudsburg University fell 3-0 to Seton Hill at Koehler Fieldhouse on Saturday.

Set scores were 25-19, 25-22, 25-19. The Warriors (8-9, 0-4 PSAC) ended the match with a .214 attack percentage, but they could not keep up with the .320 attack rate put up by the Griffins (12-4, 4-0 PSAC). Cassie Hausfeld led all attackers with 13 kills for Seton Hill, while Katie Wenson and Leah Bisignani each added eight.

Trailing 7-4 in the opening set, ESU used the serve of Predojevic to rattle off five-straight points and take a 9-7 advantage. The last four points were scored on Predojevic's serve, and she had two of her match-high three aces during the run.

The Warriors had a lead as late as 12-11 midway through, but the Griffins then took control with a 6-0 run, and they would lead by as many as seven points before closing out the set.

ESU again led in the early stages of the second set, with a Seton Hill attack error giving the home side a 12-8 edge. The score was 20-18, Griffins, when kills from freshman Sam Dunphy and Smith leveled up the score at 20-20, but Seton Hill followed with a 3-0 run and clinched the set on a kill from Jillian Livorse.

After dropping three of the first five points, the Griffins went on to lead for the remainder of the third set. Over the past two weekends, PSAC Southwest Division teams combined for a 15-1 record over the Southeast Division.

Dunphy and junior Desiree Claxton followed Smith on attack with six kills apiece, while junior Rosa Veliky had a team-high nine digs. Seton Hill, though, had a 46-34 edge in digs overall.

Smith reached double-digit kills for the 12th time this season and the third time in the past four matches.

The Warriors remain at Koehler Fieldhouse next weekend for two more PSAC contests. ESU hosts Millersville at 7 p.m. on Friday night and Shippensburg at 1 p.m. next Saturday.
