EAST STROUDSBURG - Junior midfielder Sammi Ortiz scored the game-winning goal with 14:38 remaining, lifting No. 11-ranked East Stroudsburg University to a 2-1 win over Seton Hill in PSAC women's soccer on Saturday afternoon at Eiler-Martin Stadium.

Freshman midfielder Danielle Cary had a first-half goal in the 19th minute for the Warriors (11-2-1, 11-1-1), who returned to the win column following a 1-1 (2OT) tie at Slippery Rock last Saturday and a 1-0 loss at No. 5 West Chester on a goal with 45 seconds remaining on Tuesday.

Junior goalkeeper Jules Harris made 10 saves, a career-high, for the Warriors. Harris entered the day with 26 career shutouts, one from the school record of 27 held by Stacy Linzenbold (1995-98), and is ranked sixth in DII in save percentage (.907) and ninth in goals against average (0.381) this season.

Cary scored her third goal of the season on a corner kick taken by senior back Hannah Gombos to give ESU the lead midway through the first half. Gombos notched her seventh assist of the season and the 15th of her career.

Seton Hill got the goal back 8:37 into the second half on a penalty kick by Emily LoPresti, after a handball in the box by ESU.

Ortiz broke the tie in the 76th minute with the game-winner, assisted by junior forward Molly Vicari and senior forward Brielyn Hackett. Ortiz's goal was her third of the season and the eighth of her career after earning NSCAA All-Region honors as a sophomore.

Jessica Neill had nine saves for Seton Hill (5-6-2, 4-6-2). The Griffins had a 20-19 edge in shots - 16-10 in the second half - while ESU had a 6-3 advantage in corner kicks.

The Warriors recognized Justina Woolf Kubat '02, who was inducted to the ESU Athletic Hall of Fame earlier Saturday, at halftime. A four-time All-PSAC first team selection and four-time NSCAA All-Region selection, including three times on the first team, she ranks second in school history in career goals (59) and points (137).

ESU, the two-time defending PSAC champion, has four games remaining in the regular season and just one at home. The Warriors are at Bloomsburg on Wednesday, host Edinboro next Saturday and travel to Bloomfield (non-conference) and Gannon the following week.
