CLINTON, N.Y. – East Stroudsburg University had a perfect tune-up for the upcoming PSAC Championships at Saturday's Hamilton Invitational, as senior Alec Lederer and junior Kaylyn West won their respective 8K and 5K races, while the ESU women took first place overall in a field of 11 teams.

Only a tiebreaker prevented the men's squad from also earning a first place result, as ESU and hosts Hamilton each had identical 43-point totals. The Warriors ultimately placed second out of 14 competing programs.

The women finished with 47 points, 19 fewer than Cortland's 66 points in second place. West, who returned to the scoring lineup after battling injuries in the past two meets, earned her first collegiate race victory with a time of 18:44.10. Right behind West was junior Samantha Young, who crossed the line in 18:59.00 to give ESU a 1-2 finish in a field of 126 runners.

Freshman Rachel Eidson (13th – 19:33.10) and junior Jasmine Amro (14th – 19:34.40) also cracked the top 15, while senior Lauren Toth rounded out the scorers with a 17th-place showing (19:41.70).

This is second team title for the Warrior women in 2016, and the 14th overall in the past eight seasons. West is the 14th individual race champion during that span.

Lederer's victory was his second in four meets this season, as he also topped the Division II/III field at the season-opening Fordham Invitational on Sept. 10. Today, he placed first out of 154 runners with a time of 25:12.30. That result is his fastest in an 8K race so far in 2016.

Fellow senior Alex Zubko earned his second career top-five finish, crossing the line in fifth at 26:03.00. He was followed by junior Jeremy Rapposelli (ninth – 26:18.90), senior Jeremy Rigotti (26:37.80) and sophomore Tom Ciaccio (26:46.60). Rigotti and Ciaccio each made it into ESU's top five for the first time this fall.

The Warrior men have now had seven individual champions during the past eight seasons of competition.

ESU will have next week off to prepare for the PSAC Championship meet. This year's conference race will be held on Saturday, Oct. 22 at Kutztown.
