CHEYNEY, Pa. – Thirteen different players registered kills, led by seven from junior
Maddie Reichard, as East Stroudsburg University concluded the 2016 season with a 3-0 road win over Cheyney on Saturday afternoon. Set scores were 25-18, 25-12, 25-23.
The Warriors (14-18, 6-12 PSAC) end the fall with their most victories since 2008 and their most conference wins since the 2006 squad went 8-2 in PSAC play. Freshman Daisy Dinkins added a season-high six kills and a .556 attack percentage and senior
Hanna Bergen had five kills and a block in her final collegiate match.

The Wolves (3-24, 0-18 PSAC) kept things close in the opening set, with an ace from Virshawna Campbell cutting ESU's lead to 19-18 late in the frame. The Warriors responded with a 6-0 run, highlighted by three aces from Predojevic, to take a 1-0 lead. Predojevic finishes the fall with a team-high 39 aces on the year.
Junior
Desiree Claxton chipped in five kills in the first set before heading to the bench, as ESU had several reserves finish off the win. Claxton ends 2016 with 259 kills and a team-best 3.36 kills per set. She is up to 938 kills for her ESU career, a total which ranks seventh in the school record book.
Freshman
Sarah Smith had a kill, a block and two aces to help the Warriors win 11 of the first 15 points in the second set, and the Warriors were never threatened for the remainder of the frame. Smith received three PSAC Southeast Athlete of the Week awards during her debut campaign, leading ESU with 315 kills and ranking second with 64 blocks, four shy of junior
Courtney Miller for the team lead. Those 315 kills are tied for the most by an ESU freshman in program history (Kayla Mahaffay also had 315 in 2007).
Cheyney again had an opportunity to win its second set of the PSAC season in the third, holding a 20-17 advantage after back-to-back kills by Chelsea Hutson. Two Reichard kills helped fuel a 7-0 stretch for the Warriors to set up four match points at 24-20. The Wolves saved three of those match points, but McCann set up junior
Rosa Veliky for a kill to end the season on a winning note.

Sarah Fillman led the way on defense with nine digs apiece, while Smith and freshman
Abby Moore added eight. Campbell had 10 kills and 10 digs to lead Cheyney.
ESU had a .265 attack percentage for the match and a commanding 11-5 lead in aces.
