THE MATCH-UP: ESU hosts Clarion in a PSAC crossover match-up to open this weekend's homestand at Koehler Fieldhouse. The Warriors will host Pitt-Johnstown on Sunday in their 2nd game in 24 hours.

LAST TIME OUT: So. G Noelle Powell had 15 points and 3 steals and Sr. F Allison Howard posted 17 points and 7 rebounds in a 65-59 win vs. Holy Family in the 2016-17 opener Tuesday night. Jr. G Imani Brown added 10 points and 9 boards. The Warriors scored 20 points off 23 turnovers and had 14 steals, including 4 by Fr. G Tiffany Lapotsky (7 points). Holy Family has made the NCAA Tournament in 12 of the last 13 years.

WARRIORS NOTES: ESU is No. 6 in this week's D2SIDA Atlantic Region rankings, moving up 3 spots ... ESU was picked 2nd in the PSAC East preseason poll ... Howard, a 2016 All-PSAC East 1st team selection, has 966 career points and ranks 14th at ESU in career rebounds (522) ... ESU has 14 1,000-point scorers ... Jr. F Rebecca Rutkowski led the PSAC and was 17th in DII in blocks (2.3 bpg) last season ... Diane Decker was PSAC East Coach of the Year in her 1st season last winter.

SERIES HISTORY: Clarion holds a 14-12 edge, while ESU has won 2 of the last 3 - 60-41 on the road in the most recent meeting in December 2014, and 76-69 (OT) at home in December 2012. The Warriors won a pair of postseason meetings in 1995, 80-71 in the PSAC championship game followed by an 80-66 win in the 1st round of the NCAA DII Tournament.

SCOUTING CLARION: The Golden Eagles were picked 8th in the PSAC West preseason poll. Tyra Polite (12.8 ppg), Jordan Bekelja (10.0) and Delrika Jones-Carey (10.0 ppg, 7.6 rpg) were all double-figure scorers in 2015-16.

THE MATCH-UP: The Warriors meet Clarion in their 2016-17 home opener. ESU opened the season at Shepherd last weekend and notched its first win of the season at Concordia (N.Y.) on Wedesday night.

LAST TIME OUT: Sr. F Steve Harris had a career-high 22 points with 12 rebounds in his season debut, leading ESU past Concordia, 87-74. The Warriors trailed by 10 early in the 2nd half, got back in the game with a 12-2 run and closed the game on a 19-5 run en route to 51 2nd-half points. Sr. F Rasheed Moore (16 points), Jr. G Ryan Krawczeniuk (11), So. G Nick Giordano (11) and R-Sr. G Quindell Brice (10) were in double figures.

WARRIORS NOTES: Moore is a 3-time All-PSAC East selection (2016 1st team) and ranks 17th at ESU in career points (1,200) and 10th in rebounds (598) ... Harris is currently 1st at ESU in career field goal % (62.5) ... So. G Kitt Najee Walls was 1st in PSAC (23rd DII) in assists (5.4 apg) as a freshman ... in the last 7 years (2010-16), ESU is 3rd in the Atlantic Region with 152 wins ... Warriors are 50-9 at Koehler Fieldhouse since start of 2012-13 ... Jeff Wilson ranks 12th in PSAC history in career wins (254).

SERIES HISTORY: ESU has won the last 3 meetings in a series that is tied, 8-8. The Warriors won 85-56 at Clarion in December 2014 and won 101-69 in January 2014 in the most recent meeting at Koehler. They are 7-5 vs. Clarion under Wilson (since 2002-03).  

SCOUTING CLARION: The Golden Eagles were picked 8th in the PSAC West preseason poll, and Sr. G BJ Andrews was named preseason All-PSAC West after averaging 12.1 ppg. Clarion won a road PSAC 1st round game at Edinboro last winter before falling at eventual PSAC champion Mercyhurst.
