SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Redshirt sophomore Dylan Nace defended his title from last fall in the 141-pound bracket to highlight East Stroudsburg University's performance at Springfield College's Doug Parker Invitational on Saturday.

Nace, who needed to make it through four rounds to take first place a year ago at the tournament, topped five competitors to defend his crown today. The Flemington, N.J., native had bonus point wins in each of the first three rounds, he advanced to the final with a 5-2 win against Centenary's Maxwell Nauta in the semis, and he secured the title with a 3-2:tb1 triumph over Wesleyan's James Matias.

Senior Tyler Richardson (184 – fourth) and junior Christian Silva (149 – sixth) also placed in the top six in their respective weight classes for the Warriors. Richardson pinned each of his first three opponents before losing 12-8 to John Boyle from Western New England. After pinning Michael Gallagher in 5:18 to reach the third place match, Richardson was edged 4-3 by Centenary's Konstantinos Protogeropoulos.

Silva had two major decision wins and a pin in his first three matchups before suffering a tight 10-8 defeat to Springfield's Jake Strohman in the semifinals.

Redshirt sophomore Blake Cohen defeated three-straight opponents in the consolation bracket at 149 pounds before falling in the fifth consolation round to Western New England's Lamont Wallace.

ESU began the 2016-17 season with a 29-15 dual victory at Trinity on Friday night. The Warriors won six of the seven contested on the mat, including major decision victories for Nace (17-4) at 141 and Silva (13-3) at 149. The victory for Silva was his first as a Warrior. Richardson also earned six points for the Warriors after pinning Joe Caggiano in 6:24 at 184.
